Doom version · Earth-616 comics
Victor von Doom
The monarch of Latveria at his everyday peak: armor, sorcery and genius, with none of his borrowed god-powers. Every other version on this page is measured against him.
Marvel Comics, Earth-616. Debut: Fantastic Four #5 (July 1962).
Against the Fantastic Four and their 18 other versions on this site, Doom is favored in 16 of 22 fights, a toss-up in 5, the underdog in 1 and a long shot in 0.
Fight rules: both fighters at their peak, no preparation, no allies, only their own powers and personal gear. A win is a knockout, a restraint they can't escape, or a forced surrender. The percentages are fan estimates, not official information.
Powers
A super-genius who rivals Reed Richards in every science, and a sorcerer trained by his mother's relics, Tibetan monks and Morgan le Fay. He can swap minds with anyone who meets his eyes, a technique the alien Ovoids taught him (FF #10, 1963), and his will has resisted Emma Frost and the Purple Man.
Gear
Nuclear-powered titanium armor forged in Tibet: strength up to about 25 tons, a force field up to 8 ft across that he has to drop before he can attack (FF #40), concussive blasts, an electric shock for anyone who grabs him, flight, life support, sensors, a mist that reveals invisible foes (FF #199) and short-range teleport. It survived a point-blank blast from the Infinity Gauntlet (Infinity Gauntlet #4, 1991).
Signature feats
Beat the whole Fantastic Four with sorcery in Unthinkable (FF vol. 3 #67–70 and #500, 2003). Knocked out Blue Marvel with the Seven Suns of Cinnibus (Doctor Doom #3, 2020). Beat Taskmaster without his armor's weapons (Doctor Doom #4, 2020). Out-dueled Warlord Krang with a sword (Super-Villain Team-Up #13). Fused Galactus into a Latverian mountain and tapped his power (FF vol. 6 #6–9, 2019).
Weaknesses
Pride. He can't stand to concede that Reed Richards is right, and three of Reed's biggest wins over him turned on it (FF #200, FF #500, Secret Wars #9). His force field and his blasts don't run at the same time. And his honor binds him: Doom keeps his word.
Fighting style
Regal, patient and contemptuous. He opens with overwhelming force, studies his enemy while they spend theirs, then ends it with whatever they never saw coming, science or spell. He speaks of himself in the third person and never retreats without calling it strategy.
