The verdict: The Maestro wins more often than not

Fight rules: both fighters at their peak, no preparation, no allies, only their own powers and personal gear. A win is a knockout, a restraint they can't escape, or a forced surrender. The percentages are fan estimates, not official information.

Doom's edge

Sorcery the Maestro can't punch, armor built for long fights, and patience: Doom wins wars of attrition. The Maestro's great victory over God Emperor Doom turned out to be an illusion he was trapped in (Future Imperfect #5, 2015).

The Maestro's edge

The Hulk's strength after a century of radiation, Banner's genius without Banner's conscience, and a tyrant's experience. The Doctor Doom of his own timeline fought him and retreated (Maestro: War and Pax, 2021).

First appearance

Created by
Peter David and George Pérez

The Maestro is a Hulk who outlived a nuclear war, absorbed its radiation and grew stronger and more brilliant, keeping Banner's mind and the Hulk's body while losing everything decent in either. He ruled Dystopia, the last city of a ruined Earth, until the present-day Hulk was brought into the future to stop him (The Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect, 1992–93). On Battleworld he ruled Dystopia again as one of its domains, posed as a powerless Odin to fool the resistance, and offered to free Dystopia if Thunderbolt Ross helped him kill God Emperor Doom (Future Imperfect #1–2, 2015). He merged with the Destroyer and seemed to kill Doom and take Battleworld, but the victory was an illusion that had trapped him (#5). Later stories told his rise: in Maestro: War and Pax (2021), he joined forces with the Doctor Doom of his own timeline to destroy A.I.M. and the Pantheon, then the two turned on each other and Doom retreated.
