Hank McCoy was one of the original X-Men (X-Men #1, 1963). A failed serum gave him his blue fur (Amazing Adventures vol. 2 #11, 1972), and he went on to join the Avengers. He later took Xavier's seat on the Illuminati. He has never fought Doom one-on-one in the comics.
