Power rankings
The strongest versions of Doctor Doom, ranked
Thirteen Dooms, one test: if the Fantastic Four fought each of them together, how often would the team win? From a businessman with a metal problem to the god of a whole world.
How this ranking works
Ranking Dooms by raw power alone is a trap: almost every list ends in a tie between versions that are, for a while, gods. So this list asks a sharper question. If the four Earth-616 members of the Fantastic Four fought each version of Doom together, at their peak, with no preparation, how often would the team win?
The percentages come from the same ratings as every matchup page on this site, and the method is explained on how the odds work. The lower the team's chance, the higher Doom ranks.
The rankings, weakest to strongest
Fox Doom (2005)
A billionaire whose skin is slowly turning to metal and who can throw electricity. Dangerous to one hero at a time, but he has none of the comics' armor, sorcery or tactical genius, and four heroes working together take him apart.
Fox Doom (2015)
Telekinesis strong enough to pop heads and pull a world through a portal, but untested in a real fight and alone against a team that only needs one clean hit.
Victor Van Damme
The Ultimate universe's Doom is a brilliant schemer with hooves, armor and a talent for turning Latveria into an economic power, but in a straight fight he is the most beatable comics Doom.
Infamous Iron Man
Doom trying to be a hero, with his face healed and his methods restrained. He is nearly classic Doom in power, but a Doom holding back is a Doom the Four can outlast.
Doom 2099
The Doom who woke up in a corporate future and conquered it. Comparable to the classic version, with a little less sorcery and a little less history with these particular opponents.
Classic Doctor Doom
The baseline: the armor, the genius, the sorcery and sixty years of knowing exactly how these four think. He beats most of them one at a time, but together they have beaten him more often than not, which is the whole history of the comic in one number.
Fox Doom (2007)
The biggest jump on the list. The same film Doom who ranks last becomes a coin flip for the whole team the moment he steals the Silver Surfer's board and the cosmic power it carries.
Sorcerer Supreme Doom
Doom with the title, the magic and the whole planet under him in One World Under Doom. He sent Dormammu home and overpowered Reed on the astral plane, In the end he was undone by a choice, not a blow: he traded everything to bring back Valeria Richards.
Unthinkable Doom
Doom after trading his first love for a lifetime of magic in an instant. He beat the whole team, and even Johnny's nova blast didn't stop him. Reed won only by tricking him into a confession his own demonic patrons could hear.
Power Cosmic Doom
For three issues Doom held the Silver Surfer's power and had an answer for everything the Four tried. They won only because Reed lured him into Galactus's barrier, which no amount of power could cross.
Life Force Doom
With the Scarlet Witch's Life Force, Doom took on the Avengers, the Young Avengers and the X-Men at once, and only lost when the power overloaded him. The Four alone would need a miracle.
Beyonder-powered Doom
Doom drained Galactus, then the Beyonder himself, and for two issues was a near-omnipotent god. He lost the power because he could not stop doubting himself, not because anyone beat him.
God Emperor Doom
The strongest Doom there has ever been. He killed the Beyonders, took their power and built a whole world out of dead universes, then ruled it as its god for eight years. He tore Thanos apart without effort. The only thing that ever beat him was Reed asking the one question he couldn't answer honestly: whether someone else would have done better.
What the ranking shows
Doom's power is borrowed more often than not. Five of the six strongest versions here are Doom holding someone else's power: the Silver Surfer's, the Beyonder's, the Scarlet Witch's Life Force, the Beyonders' and, in a sense, a demon trio's. Each time, he lost it not to a stronger opponent but to a flaw in himself or the power: a barrier, an overload, a doubt, a debt.
