Peggy Carter was Steve Rogers's wartime love in the comics (Tales of Suspense #75 to 77, 1966). In What If...? (2021) and in her own comic, Captain Carter (2022), she is the one who takes the super-soldier serum, becomes a hero of World War II, and is frozen and thawed in the present day. Hayley Atwell has played both versions on screen. She has never fought Doom in the comics.
